Lauren

The lovely Lauren joined the society for Patience 2006 as a bright-eyed first year student, and finally left in 2013 a veteran of G&S.

Lauren performed in eight of the thirteen extant G&S operettas with our society: Lady Angela in Patience, Kate in The Pirates of Penzance, Dame Hannah in Ruddigore, Mrs Partlett in The Sorcerer 2010, Vittoria in The Gondoliers and Phoebe Meryl in The Yeomen of the Guard; whilst in our 48-hour shows she took part in Iolanthe and The Mikado.

Of course, Lauren also took part in all the summer shows during her time with the society, including playing General Cartwright in Guys and Dolls and or simply singing great songs including "Skid Row", "Turn back O Man" or "Old fashioned Love Story".

As Chair in 2007-08, Lauren ruled the society with a rod of iron (or should that be cardboard painted to look like iron?) Lauren tried to perpetuate the rumour that she was sweet, fluffy and harmless, but we know that those are actually the most dangerous type of people…as all find out who dare to lay an unlicensed hand on old Steven Trusty's daughter!

Lauren took on the challenge of co-directing twice with the society. The first time with society veteran Morven Hamilton to produce Mikado 09. Then, as a last Huzzah!, Lauren co-directed a Steampunk version of The Pirates of Penzance which was highly acclaimed, even by the Student Press! (Yes, it even had an airship).

Lauren has gone on to perform with the York Light Opera Company crossing paths with other ex Uni York G&Sers.
